Busia County’s girls’ football team showcased their technical prowess in a stellar 7-0 victory against Nairobi at Nyayo Stadium, securing a spot in the semifinals of the inaugural Talanta Hela Under-19 national football tournament.
Star player Faith Lorna stole the show with a hat-trick, scoring in the 33rd, 76th, and 78th minutes, while Yvonne Adhiambo, a second-half substitute, added a brace in the 87th and 90+2 minutes.
Diana Anyango and Joyangela Valencia contributed a goal each in the 43rd and 73rd minutes, respectively. Busia’s head coach, Edward Sakwa, credited their triumph to thorough preparations, dismissing the notion of a weaker opponent.
