The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named the preliminary nominees for various women’s categories at the 2023 Awards.
Selected by a panel of CAF technical experts, legends, and media representatives, the nominees were evaluated based on their performances from December 2022 to November 2023.
In a historic move, the first-ever CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award will be introduced, acknowledging the outstanding efforts of shot-stoppers. Ten players have been nominated for this inaugural award.
For other categories, 30 players are in the running for the prestigious Player of the Year, previously claimed by Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala for a record fifth time in July 2022. Additionally, ten nominees each have been shortlisted for Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, National Team of the Year, and Young Player of the Year (limited to players not exceeding 21 years).
The ongoing Caf Women’s Champions League Cote d’Ivoire 2023 has seen its finalists rewarded with a spot in the Club of the Year category.
The Awards Gala, set to take place on December 11 in Marrakech, Morocco, will announce the winners, attracting the top figures in African football.
