The 2024 WRC Safari Rally received a significant financial boost on Wednesday with a sponsorship of Shs. 30 million from CFAO Motors Kenya, the leading automotive dealers in Kenya.
The announcement was made during an event presided over by the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Ababu Namwamba.
Managing Director of CFAO Motors Kenya, Arvinder Singh Reel, expressed that the financial support will contribute to the planning of the four-day event scheduled to take place in Naivasha during the Easter weekend. This marks the fourth consecutive participation of CFAO Motors Kenya in the global motorsport showpiece, where its Toyota Gazoo Racing Team has achieved significant victories in past editions.
“This year’s WRC Safari Rally offers us an opportunity to consider how to create a better world, a stronger sports system, and a path towards equity and sustainability. By entrenching SDGs, we are part of a global initiative that considers how social inclusion, poverty, the environment, education, and other key areas are connected and influence the lives of current and future sports participants,” remarked Arvinder.
In line with their commitment, CFAO Motors Kenya will showcase its Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) Hilux pickup and the GR Hilux as the official route openers during the rally. The event will also feature displays of the RAV 4 Hybrid and the Corolla Cross Hybrid, emphasizing the Toyota brand’s core value proposition of Quality, Durability, and Reliability (QDR).
Moreover, CFAO Motors Kenya has unveiled two-time African Athletics Champion, Ferdinand Omanyala, as its Brand Ambassador. Omanyala’s achievements, both locally and globally, will serve to highlight Kenya’s talent and support for young people to realize their full potential.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, CFAO Motors Kenya, in collaboration with the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team, will launch a nationwide road safety campaign targeting school-going children. The initiative will involve distributing 10,000 glowing wristbands to primary schools to raise awareness of road safety within communities.
The 2024 WRC Safari Rally has attracted over 50 foreign and local drivers, including the defending champion Toyota Gazoo Racing Team composed of Kalle Rovanperä, Elfyn Evans, and Takamoto Katsuta.
