Meanwhile, Kigen will be joined by Leonard Bett, Isaac Kipkemboi, Wesley Kiptoo, and reigning Boston Half Marathon champion Geofrey Koech in the men’s field.

American athletes such as Olympian Mason Ferlic, U.S. Road Mile champion Eric Avila, and NCAA All-American Morgan Beadlescomb will also participate.

The Boston 5K will begin and end at Boston Common and will involve 10,000 athletes from 87 countries and all 50 U.S. states.

The event is part of the Boston Athletic Association’s activities leading up to the Boston Marathon on April 17, which will include world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge.

According to Mary Kate Shea, the B.A.A. Director of Professional Athletes, the race will showcase both experienced and up-and-coming runners, providing a world-class competition for participants, spectators, and running enthusiasts two days before the 127th Boston Marathon.
