Chelsea FC have dismissed manager Graham Potter after less than seven months in charge with the blues suffering their 11th defeat in 31 games following a 2-0 home defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday.
Potter took over from Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge on September 8 but after just six months in charge, the Englishman’s contract has been terminated.
Despite spending over £550m on new players, Chelsea have not managed to achieve the desired results, currently sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League, 12 points away from the top four.
The Blues are now looking for their third manager of the season.
In a statement, the club has confirmed that Potter “has agreed to collaborate with the club to facilitate a smooth transition,” and Bruno Saltor will take over as interim head coach.
The new co-controlling owners of the club, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, released a statement expressing their respect for Potter as a coach and person, saying they are disappointed with the outcome.
Chelsea will face Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday and Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on 12 April, with their new interim head coach in charge.
