Denmark FC, a relatively lesser-known team hailing from Kwale County, is gearing up to take on 20-time Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia in the FKF Cup round of 32 clash scheduled for Sunday.

Assistant coach Juma Kalato expressed confidence in their preparations and newly acquired experienced players, emphasizing their determination to give Gor Mahia a tough challenge at the Ukunda Show Ground.

“While we hold immense respect for Gor Mahia as a formidable club in East Africa, we are fully prepared to compete against them on Sunday. Despite being perceived as the underdogs, we view this as an advantage and will approach the match without any pressure,” stated Kalato.

He further highlighted the team’s reliance on players with National Super League experience and the unwavering support from their fan base to propel them forward in the encounter.

Meanwhile, Tusker FC is set to encounter another Kwale-based side, Bumbani Stars, who compete in the National Division Two league, at the same venue.

In additional fixtures slated for Sunday, defending champions Kakamega Homeboyz will face Solian City away, while Kenya Police will square off against top-tier opponents Posta Rangers at the Police Sacco Stadium. FC Talanta is set to host Bungoma Stars in another thrilling encounter.

Shabana FC, seeking redemption, will battle against Shalimar in Naivasha, with Sofapaka taking on Silibwet and SS Assad visiting Bomachoge Borabu in Kisii.

The victorious teams from the round of 32 matches will progress to the round of 16, scheduled for March 30th and 31st. The ultimate champion will earn the sole ticket to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
