Egypt and Ghana battled to a 2-2 draw in a thrilling Africa Cup of Nations encounter in Abidjan, showcasing a lively second half.

Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus struck first just before halftime, taking advantage of Egypt’s captain Mohamed Salah being sidelined due to injury.

Omar Marmoush quickly equalized, but Kudus, who had missed Ghana’s opener, restored the Black Stars’ lead with a deflected effort. Mostafa Mohamed salvaged a point for Egypt, stabbing in a goal to leave Ghana winless in Group B after two games. The injury to Salah adds a layer of concern for both Egypt and Liverpool, as the forward plays a crucial role in their endeavors.

Egypt coach Rui Vitoria expressed hope that Salah’s injury is not severe. Ghana faces the possibility of a second successive group-stage exit from the Afcon finals. Cape Verde could secure top spot in Group B with a win against Mozambique, leaving Egypt and Ghana to await their fate in the final round of group games.

Salah, who rescued Egypt with a late penalty against Mozambique, left the pitch against Ghana due to injury, leaving both his national team and Liverpool worried about his condition. Ghana’s Kudus, returning from injury, provided a moment of brilliance in the first half, scoring with a left-footed strike.

The second half saw drama, with an offside ruling denying Egypt’s Mohamed Abdelmonem an equalizer. Marmoush eventually leveled the score in the 69th minute, only for Kudus to put Ghana ahead again with a deflected effort.

Egypt responded with Mohamed equalizing through Ofori’s legs, setting the stage for an intense final round of group games.
