Emma Raducanu, the British tennis sensation, has pulled out of the Miami Open due to a lower back problem. The 21-year-old’s withdrawal comes as she is working her way back from a series of injuries that affected her 2023 season.

Raducanu, who was set to face Wang Xiyu of China, is coming off a loss to Aryna Sabalenka at Indian Wells. The extent of her back injury and its potential impact on her participation in the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup remains uncertain.

After an eight-month hiatus from the tour for surgeries on her wrists and ankle, Raducanu returned to action in January. Despite her current world ranking of 288, she remains focused on improving her game rather than immediate results.

In other news, British players Andy Murray, Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans, Jack Draper, and Katie Boulter are gearing up for their respective matches at the Miami Open.

Murray is set to play Matteo Berrettini, with the victor facing Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Draper and Evans are preparing for their matches against Taro Daniel and Lorenzo Sonego, respectively. Norrie and Boulter, both receiving first-round byes, will begin their campaigns on Friday.
