England captain Owen Farrell has opted to step back from the 2024 Six Nations, citing a need to prioritize his and his family’s mental well-being.
Saracens, Farrell’s club, officially conveyed his decision, underlining their unequivocal support.
England’s head coach, Steve Borthwick, expressed solidarity with Farrell, acknowledging the athlete’s decade-long commitment and the challenging demands faced by elite players.
Although Farrell’s absence during the Six Nations, beginning on February 3, will be significant, the 32-year-old, who recently achieved the status of England’s all-time leading points scorer, will persist in his role as captain for Saracens.
Since his debut in 2012, Farrell has accumulated 112 caps, leaving a notable gap as England embarks on the Six Nations journey.
