Ferdinand Omanyala, the record holder for Africa’s 100m sprint, leads Kenya’s contingent for the upcoming World Indoor Championships set to take place from March 1-3 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Omanyala recently made headlines by breaking the national 60m indoor record at the Miramas indoor meet, clocking an impressive 6.52 seconds. He will be the sole representative from Kenya in the 60m race.

Joining Omanyala in the competition are Reynold Kipkorir, the World under-20 1500m champion, and Vincent Keter, a former world junior champion, who will be competing in the men’s 1500m race.

Meanwhile, Noah Kibet, the World Indoor 800m silver medalist, aims to upgrade his silver to gold this time, with Collins Kipruto also competing in the same event. In the women’s category, Vivian Chebet will represent Kenya in the 800m race.

Teresiah Muthoni, the 2021 world under-20 3000m champion, will carry the Kenyan flag in the women’s 3000m race.

Completing the lineup is the men’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Boniface Mweresa, Zablon Ekwam, Kelvin Tauta, and Wiseman Were. The Kenyan team is scheduled to depart for Glasgow on February 28 in preparation for the prestigious event.
