Ferrari is bolstering its Formula 1 team with strategic hires from rival Mercedes. Jerome d’Ambrosio, a former Formula 1 driver, steps in as the new deputy team principal, while Loic Serra, previously Mercedes’ performance director, takes on the role of head of chassis performance engineering.

D’Ambrosio, who served as an adviser at Mercedes and was mentored by team principal Toto Wolff, brings a wealth of experience to his new position at Ferrari. Serra, a seasoned engineer at 52, will report to Ferrari’s technical director Enrico Cardile. His new duties encompass track engineering, aerodynamic development and operations, and overall vehicle performance.

These appointments are part of a larger team overhaul led by Ferrari’s team principal Frederic Vasseur, who is on a mission to revive Ferrari’s championship-winning legacy.

In a significant move, Lewis Hamilton is set to join Ferrari in 2025 after signing with the team this past winter. Additionally, Ferrari is in talks with Adrian Newey, a renowned designer, following his recent exit from Red Bull.

D’Ambrosio, also known for his success in the Formula E series, will assume control of Ferrari’s driver academy. Both he and Serra are slated to commence their roles at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello starting October 1.
