The Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo is set to conclude its Africa Cup of Nations hosting with a thrilling encounter as Mali faces Burkina Faso on Tuesday.

Separated by a mere 650km, this clash between the two neighbors promises excitement, with both teams eager for continental glory despite falling short on two separate occasions.

The Stallions, who finished second in Group D behind Angola, aim to overcome their shaky start in the tournament. Their journey to the Round of 16 included a hard-fought victory over Mauritania (1-0) in the opener and a 2-2 draw against Algeria. Although they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Angola in the final group match, their four points secured their advancement.

Mali, living up to high expectations in Group E, started strongly against South Africa with a 2-0 win. However, they faced setbacks in the last two group matches, settling for a 1-1 draw with Tunisia and a goalless draw against Namibia.

All eyes will be on Mali’s star player, Yves Bissouma, who is yet to showcase his full potential in the competition. Burkina Faso will look to Bertrand Traore to play a crucial role for their team.
