Former World Champion Khan Slapped with Two-Year Ban For Doping

Posted on

Former light-welterweight world boxing champion Amir Khan has been banned from all sports for two years after testing positive for a banned substance, UK Anti-Doping announced on Tuesday.

Khan, who retired in May last year, was found to have used the anabolic agent ostarine after his defeat to Kell Brook in February 2022.

Although he accepted violating anti-doping rules, he argued that he did not intentionally take the substance, which was accepted by an independent panel following a hearing in January.

The ban started on April 6, 2022, and will end on April 5, 2024. Khan, who won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics, had a record of 34 wins and six losses in 40 professional bouts.
