Benson Omalla, the league’s leading scorer, wasted no time in making his mark, finding the net in the opening minute of the game. The first half ended with K’Ogalo holding a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, defender Sylvester Owino further extended Gor Mahia’s lead with a straightforward tap-in, adding to the woes of the Posta Rangers.
The dominance of Gor Mahia continued as midfielder Austin Odhiambo netted twice, securing a convincing 4-0 win that exceeded Posta Rangers’ expectations. The magnitude of the scoreline took the opponents by surprise, considering their position in the league standings and their aspirations for the season.
Meanwhile, at the Police Sacco stadium, Mark Makwata missed a penalty in the second half as Kariobangi Sharks were forced to settle for a goalless draw against a resilient Nairobi City Stars.
The hosts missed several opportunities in the second half, with Sharks almost taking the lead in the 17th minute through Julius Masaba, whose shot narrowly missed the target.
Despite City Stars’ skipper Kapen Samuel delivering a well-placed cross that went wide, Sharks failed to capitalize on the chances.
The turning point came in the 71st minute when Vincent Owino handled the ball in the box, offering Makwatta a chance to score from the penalty spot. However, his shot was saved by Stars’ goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe.
