Gor Mahia extended their lead at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table by eight points after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against City Stars at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Benson Omalla proved to be the hero for the reigning champions, scoring the lone goal of the match in the fifth minute of the opening half. Omalla’s clinical finish was enough to secure maximum points for Gor Mahia against their resilient opponents.

Following the defeat, City Stars dropped from second place to fifth place on the table, now sitting 10 points behind the league leaders and just two points adrift of second place Posta Rangers. Omalla’s goal takes his tally for the season to 10 as he continues to vie for the golden boot.

In another significant fixture, Posta Rangers secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars in Nairobi. Despite Ulinzi Stars posing a threat to the Posta Rangers’ defense in the early stages of the match, the mailmen remained composed and focused.

Posta Rangers earned a penalty kick in the 40th minute, which Dennis Oluoch converted expertly to give his team the lead.

The second half saw Ulinzi Stars pushing hard for an equalizer, launching relentless attacks. However, Posta Rangers managed to withstand the pressure and maintain their advantage until the final whistle.

Elsewhere, at Police SACCO grounds, Police FC claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Shabana FC in an enthralling encounter.

David Okoth broke the deadlock for Police FC in the 11th minute, capitalizing on Kenneth Muguna’s cross to score past the Shabana goalkeeper.

Despite both teams creating several opportunities, there were no further goals in the match. Shabana had a chance to equalize in the 63rd minute, but Okola’s free kick was brilliantly saved, denying them the chance to level the score.

The match witnessed some delays in the second half due to protests from the away fans. With this result, Shabana remains in 17th place on the league table, while Police FC maintains their position in third place after playing 22 matches.
