Gor Mahia has clinched their 21st Kenyan Premier League title in a spectacular fashion, defeating Muhoroni Youth 3-0 at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a.

The victory was highlighted by goals from Benson Omalla, Boniface Omondi, and Austin Odhiambo, with Omalla increasing his season’s goal count to 16.

This win not only secures Gor Mahia’s dominance in the league but also guarantees their participation in the CAF Champions League, as they stand unassailable with 67 points, leaving their nearest rivals, Tusker FC, trailing with 56 points.

On the flip side, Muhoroni Youth’s defeat has pushed them further down the league table to the 17th position, just one point above Shabana FC, who are also facing relegation threats.

In other matches, Bidco United narrowly defeated AFC Leopards 1-0, while Nzoia Sugar held Nairobi City Stars to a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, Bandari FC’s match ended in a 2-2 draw against Sofapaka FC at the Showground in Ukunda, Kwale County. Despite early goals from former Bandari players Sunday Ikekhai and Darius Msagha, Bandari fought back in the second half with goals from Juma Izzadin and Benjamin Nyamawi.

Bandari’s efforts to turn the game around were evident with two strategic substitutions in the second half, which paid off as Izzadin scored a stunning 30-yard shot, followed by Nyamawi’s late equalizer.

Despite this being Bandari’s third home draw and their continued winless streak since leaving Mbaraki Stadium, the team showed resilience and determination to come back from a two-goal deficit.

Post-match comments reflected the day’s challenges, with Sofapaka’s head coach Zedekiah Otieno criticizing the poor pitch conditions, while Bandari’s coach John Baraza expressed mixed feelings about the team’s performance and the eventual comeback.
