Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia celebrated the unveiling of their new, customized 42-seater bus, valued at Sh23 million, in a lively event that captivated crowds on the streets of Nairobi on Saturday.

The vibrant green and white bus, adorned with the club’s official colours, was a generous gift from Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo.

The ceremony commenced at the General Motors headquarters, where the Managing Director, Rita Kavashe, officially launched the brand-new Isuzu FVR34. The bus embarked on a procession through Nairobi streets, accompanied by a considerable convoy of vehicles.

The chilly and rainy morning and the inevitable muddy puddles did not stop the celebrations as hundreds of dedicated K’Ogalo supporters joyously escorted the caravan, adding song and dance to the spectacle.

CS Owalo, the man of the moment, sported a white tracksuit and a shirt boldly labelled “The Boss” in black. Throughout the ceremony, he wore a contented expression.

Later in the day, at Moi Stadium in Kasarani, Owalo ceremoniously handed over the bus to the club in a vibrant event marked by grandeur and colour.

The crowds at Kasarani, swelling by the minute, enjoyed live Ohangla music performed by renowned musicians, primarily from the Luo community.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier disclosed that the bus had already been registered with the National Transport and Safety Authority.

“We express our gratitude to Honorable Eliud Owalo and his associates for making the acquisition of the customized and registered club bus possible,” Rachier stated. The bus, registered as KDN 068N, symbolizes the club’s founding year in 1968.

CS Owalo fulfilled his commitment to providing the club with a new bus after the previous one was auctioned to settle outstanding dues owed to former player Wellington Ochieng.
