The Kenya Volleyball Federation National Men’s League season entered its third leg on Friday at the Nyayo Stadium, with GSU maintaining their perfect start by defeating Kenya Forest Services (KFS) in straight sets.
The defending champions claimed the first two sets with identical 25-18 points and won the third set 27-25.
GSU tops the 16-team league with 12 points after four matches, and they are set to face Prisons Mombasa and Prisons Central on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. However, GSU is likely to get walkovers as their opponents had not arrived in Nairobi by Friday.
Former champions Kenya Prisons also won their match against Equity Bank, triumphing 3-1 sets after overcoming a second-set scare.
Kenya Prisons coach David Lung’aho is targeting maximum points from the three matches over the weekend, with the goal of securing a top-four finish.
Kenya Prisons ranks fourth on nine points, having won three matches and lost one in the previous two legs. They will face Trail Blazers on Saturday and then finish the third leg against Rift Valley Prisons on Sunday.
In other matches, KDF dominated Rift Valley Prisons with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) sets win. Trail Blazers were awarded three points after the Vihiga County team failed to honour their matches.
