Manchester City ascended to the Premier League summit following a dominant 4-0 win over Fulham, with Josko Gvardiol’s brace propelling them closer to an historic fourth consecutive title.

The victory at Craven Cottage showcased City’s control, with Gvardiol opening the scoring and Phil Foden adding to the tally, marking his 25th goal across competitions this season.

The team’s performance was further bolstered by Julian Alvarez, who scored from the spot after Fulham’s Issa Diop received a red card for a foul. City now stands two points ahead of Arsenal, with a potential title clinch if they triumph in their upcoming matches against Tottenham and West Ham, depending on Arsenal’s results.

Pep Guardiola praised Gvardiol’s unexpected goals and the team’s overall play. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming match against Tottenham, which could be decisive for the title. Guardiola also noted the team’s ambition to secure the title with a win against West Ham at home.

City’s consistent success against Fulham, marking their 16th straight win, effectively ended Liverpool’s title hopes. Guardiola, known for his superstitions, commented on his choice of attire despite the heat, attributing it to past successes.

The team’s preparation for the match, including practicing on a dry pitch, paid off as they executed a seamless 19-pass sequence leading to Gvardiol’s first goal.

City maintained possession throughout, with Foden seizing an opportunity in the second half to extend the lead, followed by Gvardiol’s second goal and Alvarez’s penalty conversion, sealing a comprehensive victory. The win not only places City at the top but also narrows the goal difference with Arsenal, setting the stage for a thrilling season finale.
