Harambee Starlets, Kenya’s national women’s football team, is gearing up for an upcoming international friendly match against Albania on April 11 in Tiran.
The team has been training at the Kasarani Stadium for the past three days with all local-based players present.
International players are expected to join the team later in the week. Phoebe Owiti, a defender with Turkish club Hakkarigucu Spor, expressed her excitement at being called up for the national team and said they are ready for the Albania test.
She added that they know very little about their opponents but are confident of victory. Janet Moraa Bundi, a midfielder with Vihiga Queens, also expressed confidence in the team’s solid technical bench and urged fans to support them.
This friendly will be the team’s first international match since the lifting of the suspension by Fifa on Kenya. The squad will depart on April 8.
