Harambee Starlets forward Marjolene Nekesa displayed her goal-scoring prowess in a commanding fashion last night as she contributed two goals to Slavia Prague’s 5-0 victory against Romania’s Olimpia Cluj in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Nekesa found the back of the net in the fourth and ninth minutes for her Czech Republic club, while Michaela Khirova, Petro Divisova, and Karolina Krivska added three more goals to secure an impressive win.
Nekesa’s outstanding performance is uplifting news for the national team, especially as they prepare for next month’s pivotal final-round qualifiers for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they will face off against Botswana.
Having missed last month’s victory against Cameroon due to injury, Nekesa is determined to return to the squad for the crucial upcoming qualifiers.
Nekesa joined Slavia Prague in 2022 after her stint with Belarusian side Minsk, where she finished as the top scorer in the Czech Women’s First League with 14 goals.
Prior to that, she spent most of her time in the United States, pursuing her education at Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
