Harambee Starlets will not be playing an international friendly match against Albania as scheduled on April 11 in Tirana.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) made the announcement less than a week before the game, citing logistical challenges that made it impossible for the team to travel and arrive in Albania on time.
FKF CEO Barry Otieno stated in a press release that the federation remains committed to developing football in Kenya and is currently seeking other countries to arrange a suitable friendly match for the Starlets during the next FIFA window.
The players have been released back to their respective clubs as the team’s camp has been cut short. Last week, the Harambee Stars lost 2-1 in Tehran in their first international football competition in years, following FIFA’s suspension of Kenya in February 2022 due to government interference.
The ban was lifted in November last year.
