“I’ll Try 800M in Future”, Says Kipyegon

Faith Kipyegon, the remarkable double-world record holder, has hinted at the possibility of venturing into the 800-meter races in the future.

Although she expresses her desire to participate in the 800 meters, Faith’s current focus remains on the 1500 meters and 5000 meters events at the upcoming Budapest competition.

Speaking about her aspirations, she emphasized her wish to continue motivating young generations, especially young women, by showing them that anything is achievable. While she is uncertain about breaking records in the 800 meters, she is willing to leave that challenge for Mary Morah, a promising young athlete, at least for now.

Faith Kipyegon, who is 29 years old, remains confident that she will eventually explore the 800 meters discipline in the future. She recognizes that it won’t be an easy task, but the numerous awards and accolades she has received serve as great motivation for her to pursue this new challenge.

Only recently, she astonished the world by smashing the women’s Mile World record by nearly five seconds during the Monaco Diamond League event. Her extraordinary performance resulted in a time of 4:07.64, surpassing the previous record set by Dutch athlete Sifan Hassan in 2019 (4:12.33).

In recognition of her exceptional achievements, Faith Kipyegon has been named the LG/SJAK Sports Personality of the Month for two consecutive months.

The latest award comes in acknowledgement of her sensational record-breaking display at the Monaco Diamond League and her previous accomplishments in June, where she shattered the women’s 1,500m and 5,000m world records.

For her remarkable feats at the Monaco Diamond League, Faith Kipyegon received an LG 55” NanoCell TV valued at KES 118,000.
