Inter Stun Juventus To Extend Four Points Clear Top Of Serie A
Inter Milan extended their lead at the top of Serie A by four points with a crucial victory over Juventus, secured by a Federico Gatti own goal. In the 37th minute, a cross from the right rebounded off Gatti’s chest, giving Inter the lead.
Despite Inter’s dominance, Juventus had opportunities, with Dusan Vlahovic missing a clear chance due to a poor first touch. Vlahovic also attempted an overhead kick that sailed over the bar. Inter’s Marcus Thuram had a goal-saving tackle from Gleison Bremer after a low ball from Federico Dimarco.
Nicolo Barella’s volley was brilliantly saved by Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who also thwarted substitute Marko Arnautovic late in the game.
Inter Milan, with a game in hand, now sits four points clear at the top of Serie A, ahead of second-placed Juventus and third-placed AC Milan. Notably, Inter has yet to concede a league goal after the 75th minute this season.
The victory positions Inter well in the title race as they travel to face Roma next Saturday. Inter’s last Serie A triumph was in the 2020-21 campaign.
