KCB is ready to elevate their game as they prepare to compete against the best teams in the Kenya Volleyball Federation League.

When Kenya Prisons faces National Volleyball League defending champions KCB in the playoff finals on June 7–9 at Kasarani Gymnasium, KCB will be looking to secure their second consecutive championship.

Under the guidance of Coach Josp Baraza, the bankers, who clinched their first league title in fifteen years, are eager to continue their impressive run. Ahead of the finals, KCB Head Coach Japheth Munala urged his team to build on their successes to retain the title.

“We are preparing diligently for the championship game. It will be a tough encounter against an experienced team, but we are well-prepared to prevail,” Munala stated.

KCB advanced to the finals following a dominant playoff run. They defeated Kenya Army 3-1 in the second leg of the quarterfinals, after a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-18) victory in the first leg.

In the semifinals, they overcame a strong DCI team 3-2 in the first leg, and solidified their spot in the finals with a 3-0 (25-20, 20-19, 25-9) win in the return leg.

“We are currently dealing with injuries; our captain has a swollen knee, but we hope she will be back before the match. Our right attacker is injured, and Chumba is recovering from her wounds. Despite these challenges, we remain confident that we will play well and win the championship again,” Munala remarked.

In the men’s final, Prisons Kenya will face defending champions GSU at 2 p.m., before the women’s final begins.
