LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined for an impressive 63 points, with 30 scored in the fourth quarter alone, as the Los Angeles Lakers secured a 131-127 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
This win marks the Lakers’ third consecutive victory this season. At halftime, the Lakers held a 64-60 lead at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, having led by as much as 15 points.
However, the Kings mounted a strong comeback, leading 94-87 as the final quarter began. The Lakers responded with a powerful 21-0 scoring run, highlighted by 16 points from James. Davis, finishing with 31 points, made Lakers history by becoming the first player since Kobe Bryant in the 2005-06 season to score at least 30 points in each of the first three games. James contributed 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists for a triple-double.
Domantas Sabonis led the Kings with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while De’Aaron Fox added 28 points and 10 assists.
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant reached a historic milestone, becoming the eighth player in NBA history to surpass 29,000 points. Durant scored 31 points in the Phoenix Suns’ 114-102 home win over the Dallas Mavericks, bringing his career total to 29,010 points. James, the league’s all-time leading scorer with 40,543 points, is the only other active player to have achieved this feat.
In another thrilling game, reigning NBA champions the Boston Celtics pulled off a comeback victory over the Detroit Pistons, winning 124-118. Trailing 112-106 with just over five minutes remaining, the Celtics rallied, led by Jayson Tatum’s 37 points and Jaylen Brown’s 24, to keep the Pistons winless this season.
