Kenya’s Under 18 boys’ national team, Junior Stars, has clinched a place in the Cecafa regional football tournament semifinals after defeating Rwanda 1-0 to top Group A.
Aldrine Kibet’s powerful 37th-minute shot proved decisive as coach Salim Babu’s team showcased their prowess at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on Tuesday.
Executing precise, well-coordinated passes that effortlessly penetrated the opposition’s defense, the Kenyan players held spectators in suspense with a mesmerizing display of football finesse.
This victory follows their impressive start to the season, where they thrashed Sudan 5-0 in the opening Group A encounter on Saturday.
Elly Owade had an early opportunity to give Kenya the lead, forcing goalkeeper Yvan Ruhamyanyiko into a full-stretch save just eight minutes into the game.
With this win, Junior Stars now tops Group A with six points. Their next challenge will be against Somalia in the final group encounter scheduled for Saturday.
