Kakamega Homeboyz FC Seizes First Win of the Season with Victory Over Tusker FC

Kakamega Homeboyz FC secured their inaugural win of the season by defeating Tusker FC 2-1 In a gripping Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Kenya Premier League clash held at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega today.

Ambrose Sifuna, the Homeboyz winger, brilliantly slotted the opening goal just three minutes into the first half. Shortly after, in the 15th minute, striker Moses Shumah headed in a precise cross from Kelvin Amwayi, securing the second goal for the home side.

Homeboyz came tantalizingly close to a third goal in the 35th minute when Kelvin Amwayi’s long-range effort struck the crossbar after eluding Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire. However, Tusker FC made a spirited comeback in the second half, managing to pull a goal back through Erick Zakayo in the 71st minute, though it wasn’t sufficient to claim a point.

Tusker’s assistant coach, George Maina, expressed disappointment in his team’s defensive performance, particularly in the first half when they conceded two quick goals. He highlighted loose marking as a key issue that allowed Homeboyz to capitalize.

On the other side, Homeboyz’s head coach, Patrick Odhiambo, praised his team’s performance, considering the adverse weather conditions that disrupted the match, with heavy rainfall in the second half.

Meanwhile, Shabana FC, based in Kisii, played to a 1-1 draw against Police FC in Homa Bay. Shabana took the lead in the 75th minute, but the Police equalized with just six minutes remaining in regular time.

In Mombasa, Bandari secured a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars, while Nzoia Sugar played to a 1-1 draw against Bidco. In another match, AFC Leopards was held to a goalless draw by Muhoroni Youth.
