Kenya’s Kakamega Homeboyz FC has been drawn against El Hilal of Libya in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The draw, held in Egypt on Tuesday afternoon, sets the stage for an exciting encounter between the two teams in their debut continental campaign.

Kakamega Homeboyz FC will have the advantage of playing the first leg at their home ground, offering them an opportunity to secure a lead before heading to Libya for the return leg.

The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to take place between the 18th and 20th of August for the first leg and between the 25th and 27th of August for the return leg.

For the players, staff, and fans of Kakamega Homeboyz FC, this moment is truly extraordinary. Competing in the prestigious CAF Confederation Cup marks a significant milestone in the club’s history.

Kakamega secured their spot in the draw by winning the FKF Cup last month after defeating Tusker 1-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The stakes are high for Kakamega Homeboyz FC, as the winner of this first-round fixture will progress to face Rayon Sports of Rwanda in the second preliminary round.

As Gor Mahia FC, the traditional football powerhouse, was unfortunately disqualified due to failing club licensing rules and not paying former players, Kakamega Homeboyz FC will be the sole representative of Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup.

This adds even more significance to their participation, as they carry the responsibility of representing Kenya in this prestigious continental competition.
