Karan Patel, Kenya’s National Rally Champion, is gearing up for the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla rally scheduled for this weekend.
Having clinched the fourth edition of the Africa Rally Championship in Burundi last month, he currently holds the third position in the African Rally Championship (ARC) leaderboard with 60 points.
This places him behind Yasin Nasser of Uganda with 78 points and Jas Mangat, also from Uganda, in second place with 63 points.
In anticipation of the rally, Karan expressed his determination to secure a top finish in the remaining legs to enhance his chances of winning the overall title. He stated, “Our aim is to win each of the remaining legs, close the gap with the log leader, and finally bring the ARC title to Kenya.”
Karan’s navigator, Tauseef Khan, emphasized their preparations to ensure the car’s optimal condition, striving for a podium finish.
He noted their disappointment in a previous competition due to a mechanical problem but assured that this time, they were fully prepared for the race and aiming for a top finish to accumulate substantial points.
The Rwanda Mountain Gorilla rally, hosted by the Rwanda Automobile Club, covers a distance of 348.18 km across six stages. It is the fifth edition of the 2023 African Rally Championships.
Following this event, the ARC continues with the Zambia International Rally in Zambia from October 20th to 22nd, concluding with the Rally of Tanzania in November.
