The regular season of the Kenya National Basketball League, which was plagued by numerous interruptions, has finally come to a close.
The playoffs began on Friday, marking the business end of the league as top teams gear up to face their challengers for a shot at glory.
KPA, the men’s basketball team, finished top of the league with 42 points after a successful 20-2 campaign. The team’s head coach, Sammy Kiki, has praised his players for their performances throughout the season as they prepare to face KU Pirates in the playoff quarters on Saturday.
Although KPA comfortably defeated KU 82-51 in their last game, Kiki remains cautious and knows that the playoffs are a different ball game.
Meanwhile, Strathmore Swords and Storms will be facing off in the women’s quarter-final playoff match on Sunday. Both teams finished closely in the regular league with Swords in fourth place with 36 points and Storms in fifth place with 34 points.
Both coaches are anticipating a tough game, with Storms looking to regain their position as a top-four team in the league.
