KCB FC kicked off their FKF Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AFC Leopards at the Kasarani Stadium on Friday.

Derrick Otanga sealed the victory with a late goal, marking his first of the season and giving the Bankers a successful start. The match took a turn for AFC Leopards when Musa Oundo received a red card, leaving them with ten players.

KCB’s season opener had been postponed due to their scheduled opponents, Kakamega Homeboyz, participating in the CAF Confederation Cup in Libya.

The match was a promising debut for KCB’s new head coach, Bernard Mwalala, who took over from the long-serving Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno before the season began.

AFC Leopards conceded a goal from a corner due to a miscommunication between goalkeeper Maxwell Mulili and captain Washington Munene.

Oundo’s red card further compounded AFC Leopards’ troubles, leaving them without a win in the first two rounds of the new season.

In other matches, Police FC suffered a 3-0 defeat against Posta Rangers, Nzoia Sugar played to a 1-1 draw against Muhoroni Youth, Shabana also had a 1-1 draw against Talanta, and Bandari secured a 1-0 victory against Sofapaka, recovering from their home loss in the opener against Tusker last weekend.
