KCB Women’s Volleyball Team Geared Up for Eldoret City Tournament
Japheth Munala, the head coach of the KCB women’s volleyball team, is optimistic about his squad as they prepare to participate in the Eldoret City Volleyball tournament starting on Saturday.
The second edition of the tournament is taking place at the Eldoret National Polytechnic and has attracted over 100 teams from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
As the defending champions of the Kenya Volleyball Federation League, KCB anticipates strong competition from the participating teams. Munala expressed readiness for the prestigious tournament, emphasizing that it would be a significant test for the team against top East African competitors.
“We are ready to hit the ground running in this prestigious tournament that will see our team compete against the best teams from the East African region,” Munala stated. He highlighted the recent improvement in the players’ performance and the comprehensive training undertaken for the competition.
Setter Sheila Wabwile, a recent addition to the team from Kwanthanze Secondary School, is expected to feature for KCB. Munala mentioned the team’s flexibility, stating that any player could be called upon to represent the badge.
Phosca Kasisi is set to make a comeback from a long-term knee injury, adding experience to the team. KCB’s captain and Malkia Strikers middle-blocker, Triza Wisa, expressed confidence, stating, “The team’s confidence is high, and we cannot wait to take on our opponents in this tournament to prove our class against the best in Kenya and the region.” KCB currently leads the league standings with 12 points after two rounds played.
