The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has announced that it will hold national trials for the 3×3 basketball team at the Strathmore University Sports Complex next week.
The selection exercise will aim to identify the best players to represent the country in upcoming competitions, including the 2024 Olympic Games qualifications.
According to Ambrose Kisoi, the KBF Secretary, the trials will feature male and female teams in the Under-17, Under-23, and senior categories.
Kisoi noted that players must register by Sunday and possess a passport issued before January 1, 2022, as well as a 3×3 Fiba account.
The KBF official further stressed that the trials are mandatory for locally-based players who seek to represent the country in future competitions.
Additionally, Kisoi revealed that the federation will also evaluate the performances of diaspora-based players through a technical panel.
He concluded by stating that those selected in the U-17 category will only be eligible for continental championships, while all selected players will have to commit to participating in all preparations leading to the Olympic Games.
