Kenya Kite Cup Set to Soar at Diani Beach

Get ready for the thrill of the Kenya Kite Cup, set to unfold on January 12-13 at Diani Beach, featuring top surfers from across the globe.

The annual competition promises intense free-style contests for both men and women, along with exciting relay races, with a substantial cash prize exceeding Ksh 470,000 up for grabs.

In the free-style contest, each heat will showcase two competitors, each allotted a 10-minute window to showcase their best tricks. Judges will evaluate performances based on criteria such as fluidity, difficulty, kite position, and style, using a scale from 1 to 10.

The relay races will spice up the competition with mixed teams of three riders. Team members will race around a buoy and back to the beach, adding a dynamic element to the event.

Beyond the adrenaline-packed action, the two-day event aims to contribute to the Diani Turtle Watch and support other local conservation charities through ongoing raffles during the competition.

To make the most of the beach atmosphere, a beach volleyball tournament is also on the agenda, ensuring that the excitement continues, even when the winds take a momentary pause.
