The Kenya Motor Sports Federation Annual Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday at the Carnivore restaurant, will unveil the motorsport individual of the year along with honoring the 2023 KMSF category champions.
The prestigious event, steeped in tradition and recognizing racing legends, will celebrate champions in Tarmac Racing, 4X4, Autocross, KNRC (Kenya National Rally Championship), National Rally Raid, and Karting.
The pinnacle of the gala will be the presentation of the coveted Motorsport Personality of the Year 2023 award, a closely guarded secret revealed only on the gala night. Last year, Karan Patel earned the title for clinching his maiden national rally championship and securing second place in the continental ARC series.
Acknowledgments during this year’s ceremony will include Kenya National Rally Champions Jasmeet and Ravi Chana, Rally Raid overall champion Tim Jessop, and Rising Star Neel Gohil. Jasmeet, a second-generation driver, has triumphed in various categories of motor rallying in Kenya.
Neel Gohil, a rising star, will be recognized for an unprecedented double in the Kenyan National Autocross category. The 15-year-old made history by winning two championships in the senior category during the 2023 season. Gohil is set to make a significant entrance into the motorsport scene this season with a locally constructed Subaru N10.
Karting champions to be honored for their achievements on asphalt include Wilf Alobo (Bambino), Rio Bixente (Cadet), and Krrish Vadgama (Rotax Junior). Tarmac champions Leroy Otto (4WD) and Moses Mwendwa (2WD) will also be celebrated.
Karan Patel and Tauseef Khan, partners in the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC), secured the drivers and navigators titles. Last year’s National Rally Raid Championship concluded with a challenging event in Kitengela, where Mark Glen won the Prototype class, Alasdair Keith secured the Modified championship title, and Charles Mousely claimed the Navigator championship.
