Kenya Police FC advanced to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup with a 1-0 victory over Ethiopia’s Coffee FC in a thrilling second leg match at Addis Ababa’s Abebe Bikila Stadium on Sunday.

Captain Musa Mohammed led a star-studded squad, and the decisive goal came from Toha Rashid, who scored with a header from a throw-in by Baraka Badi in the first half. This goal proved crucial, as it secured a 1-0 aggregate win for the debutants, following a goalless draw in the first leg in Nairobi.

Police FC’s Executive Chairman, Saing Nyale Munga, praised the team’s performance and expressed optimism about their future prospects. “The squad is performing excellently, and with a bit more focus on our finishing, African glory is within reach,” Munga said.

In the next round, Police FC will face Egyptian giants Zamalek, with the first leg set to take place in Egypt. Head Coach Antony Kimani will rely on a strong attacking lineup, including Clinton Kinanga, Francis Kahata, and goal scorer Rashid. “We will now re-strategize for the upcoming game; we have what it takes to achieve major honours,” Kimani commented.

Police Bullets’ Challenge

Meanwhile, Police Bullets, also in Ethiopia, will play against Tanzania’s Simba Queens on Monday in the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers. The winner will face either CBE WFC or Kawempe Muslim in the finals at the Abebe Bikila Stadium on August 29.

As rising stars in the competition, Police Bullets will aim to establish their legacy. Under coach Beldina Odemba, the team will focus on swift counter-attacks and solid defense to enhance their continental dominance.

Kenya’s undefeated champions are expected to showcase strong defensive play and versatile goal-scoring options, with hopes high that their current form will carry them through this challenging continental event.
