Kenya Police FC, a Kenyan Premier League club, has announced the appointment of Croatian coach Zdravko Logarusic as their new head coach.
This move comes shortly after the team decided to part ways with Francis Baraza due to their poor performance in the top-flight league.
Under Baraza’s leadership, the team struggled, finding themselves in a precarious 16th position on the league table with just three points from four games, following a series of winless matches.
The official unveiling of Logarusic took place at the Police Sacco Stadium, with club chairman Nyale Munga introducing the new head coach. During the ceremony, Logarusic expressed his commitment to leading the team to their first top-tier title this season.
“I know why I have been given this job, and I will do all I can to meet expectations,” Logarusic stated. He wasted no time and immediately began planning training sessions to assess the team’s strengths and weaknesses, emphasizing their goal to secure the league title.
Logarusic acknowledged the high expectations placed on him but remained unfazed by the pressure, stating, “Pressure is part of my job, I have to deal with pressure.” He praised the team’s talent, including national team players, and expressed his determination to maximize their potential.
The team’s first significant test under Logarusic’s leadership will be against Bidco United this Saturday. Kenya Police FC chairman Nyale Munga commended the appointment, citing Logarusic’s international coaching experience and successful track record with local clubs like Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
Munga expressed hope that Logarusic, who recently arrived from Zagreb, Croatia, would rejuvenate the team and help them achieve their goals. The club also confirmed that Logarusic would be supported by seasoned local tactician Salim Babu, who previously served as Francis Baraza’s deputy.
“It’s official, Zdravko Logarusic has completed his move to POLICE F.C. as the Head coach. The tactician, alongside his assistant coach Salim, will steer the team toward its vision. Welcome home, coach!” the club stated in a release.
The appointment marks a new chapter for Kenya Police FC as they seek to improve their performance and compete at the highest level in Kenyan football.
