Kenya Unveils National 3×3 Basketball Teams for Olympic Qualifiers
Kenya has officially announced its national 3×3 basketball teams, consisting of senior men, senior women, and under-23 teams, in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualifiers.
Leading the charge for the men’s team are Fahim Juma, George Omondi, and Larry Shavanga, while the women’s team features standout players Hilda Indasi, Medina Okoth, and Menelisa Omondi.
Each team comprises eight players and two reserves, carefully selected to represent the country’s talent and potential in the 3×3 basketball format.
Currently ranked third in Africa, Kenya aims to make its mark on the continent, trailing only Egypt and Tunisia in the rankings.
The teams are eagerly preparing for two crucial assignments on their calendar. First, they will compete at the Africa Beach Games, scheduled to take place in Tunisia later in June. Additionally, the women’s team has received an invitation to participate in the World Beach Games held in Indonesia.
Expressing her excitement and gratitude, Margaret Nerea, a member of the women’s team, acknowledged the significance of representing the country. She hopes that this opportunity will pave the way for emerging players and inspire future generations of basketball talent in Kenya.
