Kenyan Taekwondo Squad Gears Up for Olympic Qualifiers with Eyes Set on Tokyo 2024

The Kenyan Taekwondo team has assembled at the CID school in South B, Nairobi, intensifying their preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games qualifiers in a fervent pursuit of Olympic glory set to take place in Dakar, Senegal.

Under the expert guidance of coach Linus Marangu, this diverse team, comprising both able-bodied and Para athletes, is gearing up for the qualifying battles that will unfold from February 8 to 11, 2024.

The Kenyan contingent, consisting of 12 skilled athletes, holds high hopes for securing coveted spots at the Tokyo 2024 Olympics. The team’s dynamic composition includes four able-bodied athletes, featuring two accomplished ladies and two resilient men, alongside a Para team boasting four men and four women.

Faith Ogallo, a notable participant in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, is poised for a triumphant return, eyeing her second appearance in the over 67kg category.

Joining her in the pursuit of Olympic dreams are Julie Musangi, competing in the under 67kg category, and Sharon Wakoli, who aims to make a dazzling debut in the under 49kg category.

On the men’s front, the team will be led by Moses Obara, showcasing his skills in the over 80kg category, while Innocent Wafula takes charge in the under 80kg category. The athletes are not only vying for personal triumph but also carrying the aspirations of a nation eager to witness their success on the global stage.

As they set their sights on the Olympic qualifiers scheduled from February 8-11, 2024, the Kenyan Taekwondo team is committed to showcasing their prowess and securing berths that will propel them to Tokyo later this year.

The journey to the Olympics is marked by determination, skill, and the unwavering spirit of these athletes, who are poised to make Kenya proud on the grandest sporting platform.
