Kenya’s Basketball Premier League Heats Up as Teams Vie for Playoff Positions

As the Kenya National Basketball Men’s Premier League regular season draws to a close, Strathmore University’s ‘Blades’ are gearing up for a crucial clash against Umoja.

With the sixth spot on the line, the Blades are determined to secure a win in their final match at Nyayo Gymnasium this Saturday, setting the stage for a strong playoff presence.

Coach Tony Ochieng is rallying his team to maintain their upward trajectory, despite grappling with the absence of five key players due to injuries and academic commitments. The Blades, currently sixth with 31 points from 21 games, aim to solidify their position against Umoja, who sit tenth with 27 points.

In another part of the league, Africa Nazarene University (ANU) is bracing for a competitive end to the season. The ANU Wolfpacks and Panthers, led by coach Michael Oluoch, are set to face USIU Tigers and Equity Hawks respectively, with the Wolfpacks positioned seventh and the Panthers aiming to climb from their current standing.

USIU Tigers’ head coach David Maina is optimistic about his team’s prospects as they prepare for back-to-back games against ANU Wolfpacks and UON Terror. Despite training setbacks due to inclement weather, the Tigers, who are third on the log, are focused on finishing the regular season with victories.
