After suffering a disappointing defeat against Senegal on Tuesday evening, Kenya’s football team is determined to make a comeback in their next two Group A matches at the Africa Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia.
In an East African derby, the team will face neighbouring Tanzania at 10 am local time (12pm EAT), followed by a match against Libya at 4 pm (6 pm EAT).
These two crucial matches will determine their chances of reaching the semi-finals.
“We are familiar with Tanzania as we have played against them several times. It will be a challenging match, but we are prepared. We understand the importance of winning to keep our hopes alive,” said team captain Farid Bwana.
He further stated, “Our goal is to qualify for the World Championships, which means we need to reach the final.”
Simultaneously, the 3×3 basketball team will begin their campaign on Wednesday, with both the men’s and women’s teams playing two matches each.
The women’s team has been placed in Pool B alongside Benin and Mali, while the men’s team will compete in Pool A against hosts Tunisia and Algeria.
The men’s team will play all their group stage matches on Wednesday, starting with a match against Algeria at 3:25 pm (5:25 pm EAT) and facing the hosts at 5:15 pm (7:15 pm EAT).
The women’s team will take on Mali at 6:30 pm (8:30 pm EAT).
