Kenya’s Lionesses Demolish Cameroon 52-3 in Rugby Africa Women’s Cup

Kenya’s national women’s rugby team displayed a dominant performance as they thrashed Cameroon 52-3 in their final match of the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup at the Stade Makis in Madagascar on Sunday.

Seeking to bounce back from their previous defeat against South Africa with a scoreline of 48-0, the Lionesses wasted no time in asserting their superiority over their West African opponents.

Nelly Chikombe opened the scoring with an early try, setting the tone for the match. Grace Adhiambo, who had already converted a penalty, followed up with a converted try, extending Kenya’s lead to 14-0 and tightening their grip on the game.

Just before halftime, the Lionesses added another try, taking a commanding 19-0 advantage into the break.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Kenya dictating the proceedings while Cameroon struggled to keep up, assuming the role of mere spectators.

Two quick-fire tries further increased Kenya’s lead, although Cameroon managed to salvage a consolation penalty, making the scoreline 31-3. Undeterred, the Lionesses continued their onslaught, adding two more tries to surge ahead 45-3.

In the final minutes of the match, Michelle Awuor crossed the try line once again, putting the finishing touch on a splendid performance by the Lionesses in front of a packed crowd at Stade Makis.

Having recorded two wins in the competition, including a 29-20 victory over hosts Madagascar in the tournament opener, the Kenyan team exits the competition on a high note, despite their loss to the Women Boks earlier in the week.
