Kenya’s Sevens team, Shujaa, continued their downward spiral at the Hong Kong Sevens, losing all of their Group D matches.
At the Hong Kong Stadium, they were defeated 29-5 by New Zealand, 26-14 by Ireland, and 26-17 by South Africa.
During the match against South Africa, Shujaa struggled to maintain control of the ball and often gave away possession, which the South Africans exploited to their advantage.
Shaun Williams, Soyizwapi Sivive, and Grobbelaar Christie all scored for the South Africans, with Ricardo Duartee successfully converting, leading to a commanding 19-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Oyoo Nelson managed to score an unconverted try for Kenya, reducing the deficit. However, Donovan Don scored again for the South Africans. Although Jeff Oluoch and Billy Odhiambo also scored tries for Shujaa, the team’s weakness in losing possession prevented them from making a comeback.
