Kianda School Triumphs at PIPSSA Swimming Championships
Kianda School emerged as the champions of the fourth edition of the 2023 Private and International School Sports Association (PIPSSA) Swimming Championships in a remarkable display of talent and skill.
The event, which took place at the Moi Educational Center in Nairobi over the weekend, saw Kianda School amass an impressive total of 128 medals across various events.
With outstanding performance, Kianda School secured 48 gold medals, 47 silver medals, and 38 bronze medals, placing them well ahead of their competitors. Dashing Dolphins claimed the second spot with 112 medals, while Strathmore School secured the third position with 79 medals.
Kianda School’s dominance extended to the girls’ category, where they amassed a total of 4885 points. Dashing Dolphins claimed the second position with 1179 points, followed by St. Peter’s Juja in third place with 791 points.
In the boys’ category, Strathmore School emerged as the victors, surpassing St. Peter’s Juja and Dashing Dolphins. The competition showcased exceptional performances from Mary Gathoni of Umoja Sharks and Grace Munyiri from Kianda School, who emerged as the winners in the under-7 100m category.
Britney Zawadi from Gathoni’s school and Glowy Corazon from Haviller’s Swim Club dominated the under-9 category.
In addition to the accolades received at the championship, the winners across different categories have qualified for the prestigious Alliance ‘Bush’ Invitational Swimming Gala, scheduled to be held at Alliance Girls High School in Kiambu next month.
Looking ahead, PIPSSA is set to organize the Rift Valley Swimming Championships on June 10 at the Shah Lalji Academy in Nakuru. The event promises to showcase the exceptional swimming talent within the region.
