Kipleting and Jepchirchir Triumph at Nandi County Athletics Event

Jackson Kipleting and Faith Jepchirchir emerged as the winners in the men’s and women’s 10,000m races respectively at the Nandi County Athletics Kenya track and field event held at the Eliud Kipchoge Sports Complex.

Kipleting claimed the men’s title with a time of 29:24, narrowly edging out Evans Kiplagat who finished in 29:25.

Veteran runner Emmanuel Bor secured the third spot on the podium with a time of 29:32. Kipleting expressed his delight at the victory, recognizing its significance as he looks ahead to the Central Rift championship and the national trials in preparation for the World Athletics championships in Budapest, Hungary, in August.

In the women’s race, Jepchirchir emerged victorious, clocking a time of 33:41. Ruth Jebitok finished second with a time of 35:44, while Jackline Jepkoech completed the podium with a time of 36:01. Jepchirchir expressed her satisfaction with the long-awaited victory, achieving success on home turf.

The event also witnessed impressive performances in the 800m races, with Mercy Kipyego and Dominic Kiptoo emerging as the winners in the women’s and men’s categories respectively.

Kipyego claimed the women’s title with a time of 2:11.03, followed by Peninah Nakang in second place with a time of 2:13.85, and Eunice Jerubet in third place with a time of 2:14.04.

In the men’s race, Kiptoo triumphed with a time of 1:49.41, followed closely by Naaman Cheruiyot in second place with a time of 1:49.84, and Collins Kibiwott in third place with a time of 1:50.50.

Onesmas Chepkemoi and Marion Jepchumba emerged victorious in the 400m races. Chepkemoi secured the men’s title, crossing the finish line in 48.56, ahead of Nobert Kolombos in second place with a time of 48.47, and Kelvin Kimutai in third place with a time of 48.80.

The Nandi County Athletics event showcased the talent and determination of the athletes, setting the stage for future competitions and paving the way for their participation in the upcoming national and international championships.
