Multiple world champion and two-time Olympic 1500 meters champion, Faith Kipyegon, has vowed to break more records following her phenomenal performance at the Paris Diamond League on Sunday, July 7, 2024, where she shattered her own 1500m record.

Kipyegon clocked 3:49.04, breaking the world record by 0.07 seconds in a superb display at Stade Charlety.

She improved upon the world record she set in Florence, Italy, in June last year, and is confident in her ability to continue improving. “Records are set to be broken, and more will be broken in the coming races, that I am sure of. I am determined to be successful in the upcoming races,” said Kipyegon.

This was her second race of the year, following the Kip Keino Classic in April. She described the Paris win as excellent preparation for the Olympic Games in Paris later this month.

“This is a good buildup heading to the Olympic Games in Paris. I am happy with the way I’m preparing for the games. I hope to be successful and make my country proud,” she added.

The world 5000 meters champion also spoke about the inspiration she draws from her daughter before every race.

“She keeps me going. I do everything for her because she is my inspiration. Before the race, she called me and wished me all the best, and when I stepped on the track, I gave my all to make her proud,” stated the proud mother of one, born in June 2018.
