Kitale Golf Club, boasting a par 73 course, is preparing to welcome 150 golfers from across the nation for the 13th leg of the prestigious East Africa Golf Tour this upcoming weekend.

The morning tee-off is set for 7:00 a.m., with competitors vying for the top two positions to secure a place in the grand finale Pro-Am event scheduled for November at the Karen Country Club.

To date, 11 teams have secured their spots in the grand finale following 12 successful legs. Two additional entries recently qualified through the Kenya Air Force Commander’s Cup, which took place at the Great Rift Valley Golf Course last weekend.

Fandi Shiyuka, the Captain of Kitale Golf Club, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We extend a warm welcome to golfers from various clubs to Kitale for a thrilling competition that will elevate our club’s standing in the region.”

“Our greens are in impeccable condition, and our fairways offer players a unique atmosphere to display their golfing skills. We aim to leverage this partnership to raise the sport to an elite level.”

Throughout the 12 legs held thus far, more than 1,000 golfers have participated, with an additional 600 ladies and juniors benefiting from concurrent clinics offered during the tour.

Rosalind Gichuru, KCB Group Director of Marketing, emphasized the tour’s success, saying, “Through the East Africa Golf Tour, we’ve created opportunities for thousands of golf enthusiasts to partake in this incredible journey, which has had a significant impact.”

“We still have a few legs to play before the grand finale, which will undoubtedly be the culmination of what has been a successful run,” Gichuru added.

The golf action on Saturday will conclude with clinics for juniors and ladies on Sunday, followed by a tree-planting event at the same venue. The 14th leg of the series is scheduled for October 7, 2023, at the Machakos Golf Club.
