KPA Mounts Sensational Comeback to Beat Equity Dumas in KBF Premier League Clash

Posted on

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) staged a remarkable second-half comeback to overcome an 11-point deficit and secure a 68-59 victory over Equity Dumas at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday night.

Malian international Abdalaye Haidarra sealed the impressive turnaround with a powerful dunk on the fast break, epitomizing KPA’s resilience.

Haidara and point guard Tobias Odhiambo showcased grit by finishing the game strongly despite sustaining cuts to their heads during the bruising encounter.

Salim Kisulu and Job Byron delivered standout performances for KPA, each contributing 13 points and playing pivotal roles in bouncing back from last weekend’s defeat to Ulinzi Warriors.

Equity Dumas faced adversity in the final quarter, with key players Victor Bosire and Nick Ogol encountering foul trouble. Bosire’s influential drives and assists were evident throughout the game, but his fourth foul, coupled with contentious protests, disrupted Equity’s momentum.

Eugene Adera and Congolese player Joel Ntambwe showcased their prowess with 13-point outputs for Equity, who enjoyed a strong start and led 33-22 at halftime.

However, KPA mounted a spirited comeback in the third quarter, reducing Equity’s lead to just two points. A pivotal timeout called by Equity’s coach Isaac Munywoki failed to halt KPA’s momentum, as they surged ahead with a commanding performance.

Despite Equity’s attempts to rally in the final quarter, KPA maintained their composure and capitalized on their opponent’s poor shooting, securing a crucial win that propels them into a favorable playoff position.

With an 11-4 record this season, KPA sits third in the standings, bolstered by their resilient performance.

In an earlier match, KPA’s women’s team also staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Zetech University 59-50 after trailing 40-20 at halftime. Their unbeaten streak this season keeps them at the top of the standings.
