KPA Teams Dominate in Tour of the City with Four Crucial Wins

Kenya Ports Authority teams showcased their dominance in the recently concluded Tour of the City basketball tournament, with the Dockers securing four crucial wins.

 The women’s team, bolstered by the addition of Nigerian Ifunanya Okoro and returning shooting guard veteran Hilda Indasi, emerged as the hottest team in the league, defeating KU Oryx 79-16 on Saturday and quelling the Storms on Sunday with a 72-15 win. 

The depth of the KPA women’s team was evident throughout the tournament, and they are poised to defend their championship title with ease.

Although bad weather disrupted the men’s home game against KU, they bounced back on Sunday to face their nemesis, Ulinzi Warriors, at the newly opened Ulinzi Sports Complex. KPA emerged as the victors with a 64-52 win, establishing themselves as the team to beat in the league. 

Head coach Sammy Kiki lauded his team’s performance, highlighting their great defense and impressive offence. 

He expects the squad to continue defending their championship title this season and hopes to improve in areas that need work.

The Dockers return to their home base in Mombasa on April 8, where they will face another uphill battle. 

The women’s team will square up against Equity Bank Hawks and Eagle Wings Basketball Team, while the men’s team will play against Equity Dumas and Umoja Basketball Team.
